The Department of Media Services has a state-of-the-art audio post-production facility that can meet the needs of practically any audio event on- or off-campus. Our audio unit has the capability to produce material in both the analog and digital format. In the analog domain, Media Services can provide services from 2-track up to 16-track digitally, in house, or portable. The digital side of our audio unit allows much more flexibility. Media Services can provide a "straight to stereo" product by using either CD or DAT as a recording medium, or a full 24-track digital recording in our studio or in the field. The audio unit also can provide 256 tracks of CD quality recording, mixing, and mastering with our Digidesign ProTools HD3 digital audio workstation. The audio post-production suite features a Whisper Room for voice recording and Sony's Sound Forge for voice editing. We use Neumann condensor and tube microphones, Pre-Sonus and dbx preamps, dbx compressors, and Genelec monitors.
Media Services also has live audio support services. We use Mackie 16- and 32-channel consoles to provide flexible mix options for your event. The audio unit uses self-powered JBL speakers and Klipsch monitors for sound reinforcement. We also use the SMAART Live calibration software system to ensure the highest quality audio support for your event.
